GOD CREATED US TO HAVE FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM; therefore, time alone with Him should be a priority every day. If we are too busy for God, we are simply too busy.
Quiet time is that deliberate, unhurried appointment we keep with the Lord — a place where the noise of the day is shut out and the voice of the Spirit is given room. It is not a religious duty to be ticked off a list. It is the daily returning of the clay to the hands of the Potter.
Begin with the Word. Read it slowly enough that it can read you. Then pray it back to God — thanksgiving first, then confession, then the needs of others, then your own. Keep a notebook nearby; what God says in the quiet is worth remembering in the noise.
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” — Matthew 6:6
